Type Selection Standard For Steam Traps

Based on seven years of monitoring and testing of trap performance and fresh steam loss in Huddersfield and Grangemouth industrial plants of the Royal Chemical Industry Corporation of the United Kingdom, and on the basis of monitoring and testing of trap performance and fresh steam loss in two manufacturer laboratories, the Royal Chemical Industry Corporation of the United Kingdom finally carried out the monitoring and testing of trap performance and fresh steam loss in two manufacturer laboratories. The contents of selection of traps in the Guidance for Engineering Design have been revised. The revised new Guidance includes the trap selection table.

There are many shortcomings in the old type selection standard of trap, the most obvious one is that it does not mention the type of hydrophobic equipment and hydrophobic method. The selected trap often does not match the actual load. In particular, thermal power disc traps (the basis of the old selection standard) are mistaken for universal traps by people, especially workshop workers.
