Safety Valve Installation
Before installation, the inner chamber at the inlet side of safety valves shall be cleaned by clear kerosene or gasoline. Proper installation is very much concerned with the normal operation and full play of its performance, an also has direct impact on its operating Performance, sealability, discharge capacity, etc.
While install safety valves, users should consider some Important installation advice including handling, plant conditions, pipework configuration, markings and noise considerations.
Installation Positions of Safety valves
When selecting the positions where safety valves shall be installed on the protected system or equipment, please notice the following.
1. Safety valves shall be vertically installed in protected system or equipment in the positions most sensitive to pressure, such as the top of pressure vessel and the main pipe of superheated steam.
2. When the pressure source of protected system is a kind of device with impulse (e.g.air compressor), and the impulse upper limit of such pressure is very close to the opening pressure of safety valves, then safety valves shall be installed in a place suitably away from the pressure source to avoid any abnormal chatter to safety valves.
3. Safety valves shall be installed in the locations convenient for disassembly, regular checkup and maintenance.
Installation of the inlet Pipeline of Safety valves
Safety valves should better be directly and vertically installed on the joints of vessel or pipeline in protected system, with no need of separate inlet connecting pipe. Under the conditions where inlet connecting pipe is obliged to be installed, its inner diameter shall not be less than the inlet inner diameter of safety valve, and it shall be kept as short as possible to reduce the moment of force to vessel joint caused by pipeline resistance and the reacting force from the discharge of safety valves.
