If the user wants to maintain a stable outlet pressure for the pressure reducing valve in the steam pipeline, they should use those PRVs that can reduce the static pressure. Both DP17 PRV and Y43H PRV can be used for steam, but Y43H can only reduce dynamic pressure, while DP17 can reduce dynamic pressure and static pressure.
1. DP17 is a pilot diaphragm type pressure reducing valve, while Y43H is a pilot piston type pressure reducing valve.
2. Both DP17 and Y43H can be used in steam pipelines. The performance of DP17 PRV is better and more stable than Y43H PRV, but the price of DP17 PRV is higher than that of Y43H PRV.
3. Generally, the Y43H PRV pilot piston can only reduce dynamic pressure. If the valves installed after the PRV stop working and there is no steam consumption in the pipeline, the outlet pressure may increase. If all valves are continuously working and steam continues to flow, the outlet pressure can stabilize at the set value. However, if the outlet PRV cannot be set, the internal piston may get stuck or the adjustment spring may be damaged.
4. For Y43H pilot piston PRV , if the working temperature is higher than 300 degrees Celsius, the trim material should be heat treated. The pilot valve spring, main valve spring and adjustment spring should also be changed to Inconel X-750 springs that can withstand high temperatures. The high temperature spring of PRV is not 50CRVA, it should be Inconel X-750. However, spare parts for the pilot valve spring and main valve spring are usually not provided.
5. For DP17 pilot diaphragm PRV, it can not only reduce dynamic pressure, but also reduce static pressure. In other words, if the valve after PRV stops working and there is no steam flow, the outlet pressure can be maintained at the set pressure without increasing. However, if the customer needs to reduce the static pressure (or keep the outlet pressure at a certain set value) because we need to change the seal type, it should be clearly stated in the order. Otherwise, we will provide common types that are usually used to reduce dynamic pressure
